The first three episodes of Season 9 are as strong as anything the show’s done since the heyday of Season 4. ... Even better, these new episodes make an effort to give most of the sprawling cast something to do.

The world of The Walking Dead is still a scary and dangerous place. Characters will still die and characters will still show their horrific true colors, but characters will also laugh, and love and, gosh darnit, they’ll live this season. ... With Rick at relative peace as his final episodes approach--though Lincoln may be directing some episodes!--it’s intriguing to watch another member of his group go dark.

Viewers have reason to worry that maybe the series isn’t so much taking them down a road less traveled so much as leading them around in circles, dragging itself out in order to once again make a familiar and garrulous point about the best-laid plans of mice and men often going awry.

Promising performances from Lauren Cohan, Andrew Lincoln and Melissa McBride maintain the entire hour entertaining and make us know that we are watching is a kind of reality. Lauren Cohan as Maggie for first time made her character´s screen time worthy and a bit rushed but necessary. Angela Kang is taking control with an amazing start and fascinating dialogue and story moving and I hope this can balance its quality level until whisperers first look Expand

This episode mainly focuses on The Saviors with the aftermath of the last season. Just think of mostly everything that happened after Japan was nuked twice. Darly is in charge of the saviors. He actually talks now and has opinions on problems (Crazy right?). Rick is still in charge, but not for long. There will be a minor death that will cost a "Major" death. The characters feel more alive this time around, yeah there are moments through out the lastest seasons, but now much better. This episode has problems, but I think It will differ person to person. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Same old The Walking Dead. Do something monumentally stupid for no good reason, so we can have a regular almost killed. Then have someone not important really killed. Then have fantastic character moments like with Carol and Daryl, and interesting arcs for Maggie and Rick, along with a villain finally getting what they deserve. Same problems as other seasons. Same greatness as other seasons. Never has there been a more frustrating show on TV. Expand

The same old formulas are repeated again, nothing new or interesting ever actually happens. This show needs a game of thrones moment where half of the main cast is killed and replaced (but this probably wont happen). Half of the time this show makes you cringe, the logic flaws and writing generally is stupid and just following the same predictable formulas (almost kill some main character even though we know it wont happen, then kill some minor characters noone cares about). This season looks like they try to make one of the main characters the villain (which is in principle a good idea) but here it just makes you dislike everyone of the characters. You can not really identify with any of them and do not care what happens to them. just finish the show already and do something different. Expand
